Goodall guitars cost in the neighborhood of $8 grand, but I imagine you could spend more if you wanted to. But how do they
sound
? My ear is not well enough tuned.

the amount of love and dedication involved + high quality craftmanship is what you pay for. i’m not well versed in guitars and musical instruments but you can tell they build these guitars to the best of their ability and ensure every detail is precisely fine-tuned for maximum build and acoustic quality.

The guitar in the backing track sounds fucking fantastic, but that’s as much in the room and recording equipment as it is the guitar. Playability is a huge factor in addition to sound quality. And then of course there’s the beautiful finish and craftsmanship.
Paul Reed Smith has some videos and a lot of pictures of their private signature stock guitars, they can easily run for just as much.

What strikes me is how low-tech, high-skill the thing is.

I was struck by how
ordinary
everything is in their shop. Just lots of skill. I watched Junior working and wondered if I could enjoy doing that for my job. I certainly have the talent for it, but would I find it interesting enough to keep me at it for a career?

My uncle is a luthier and I think his guitars start at 5k. He is on a ukelele kick right now. I have one and wow, it sounds amazing.

These guys’ shop us up the coast from here and I’ll be in their neighborhood this summer and I hope to stop in their gallery. I love musical instruments for their craftsmanship.
